SDI-12 converter for analog signals
ECOMATIK dendrometers and temperature sensors (e.g. the LAT-B3) are supplied with a standard analog voltage output, making them compatible with a wide range of commercially available data loggers equipped with suitable analog input channels.
ECOMATIK Analog-to-SDI-12 Converter offers a convenient solution for applications where analog input channels are unavailable, limited in number, or where available analog input channels do not provide sufficient resolution and accuracy required for high-precision measurements.
The converter translates the analog voltage signal of the connected sensor into a digital SDI-12 signal (SDI-12 Version 1.3). It can also be used with third-party sensors, as long as they operate with 2.5 V excitation voltage and current draw is not more than 5 mA.
The converter is available in two versions: integrated and stand-alone:
The integrated version is factory-installed in the sensor cable and pre-configured for the respective sensor. Measurement values are output in µm for dendrometers and in °C for the LAT-B3 and other ECOMATIK temperature sensors.
The stand-alone version is equipped with a terminal block, allowing users to connect ECOMATIK dendrometers, ECOMATIK temperature sensors, or compatible third-party sensors.
Advantages
- The SDI-12-enabled measurement system used does not require its own analog input channels.
- The converter is optimized for measurements with our analog precision sensors and delivers highly accurate measurement data.
- The converter converts analog sensor signals directly into the corresponding physical unit (e.g. µm or °C). In the cable-integrated version, measurement values are output directly in the correct unit thanks to factory pre-configuration.
- In the stand-alone version, the converter provides two separate analog input channels.
- The operation of a larger number of sensors on a measurement system with only a single SDI-12 input channel is possible via the SDI-12 bus system.
- Wide supply voltage range from 3.6 to 24 V DC.
Limits
- Requires an SDI-12-capable measurement system for operation.
- The total SDI-12 bus length must not exceed 400 m.
- When multiple SDI-12 converters are used on the same bus, individual addresses must be assigned manually.
- In the stand-alone version, the measurement mode and conversion parameters must be configured manually.
